During the keynote, Google announced that the devices to run Day Dream will need to feature high-quality displays and latest high-end SoCs as well. Also, the devices should run on the latest Android N OS. Going by these regulations, it seems like Huawei’s yet-to-come VR ready smartphone will possess all these specifications in order to be one of the partners of Google’s DayDream. However, Richard didn’t throw much light on the same but a VR-ready device which will adhere Google’s Daydream itself is revealing much.
Google, however, didn’t mention the name of Huawei while mentioning the names of compatible OEMs. But, this doesn’t mean that Google didn’t create any space for the others.
Richard shared company’s long-term goal –
We want to be the number-one smartphone maker in the world. It's a long distance race, and we have the patience. Our growth is mainly coming from the high-end, premium segment. If you want to be the leading vendor you have to lead in the high-end.
Not only this, Huawei also disclosed that the company will continue to work with Leica to embed its camera technology in the upcoming smartphones. Their partnership started when Huawei used Leica’s dual camera lens in its P9 smartphone.
The previously leaked speculations also cite that Google will bring its own Daydream-ready VR to the market to set an example for other OEMs.
