Cool things can one do with an iPhone and iPad that most people don't know about

Most of the cool tricks/hacks have been covered in this thread. I'll add four which I could not find here.

Add web suffixes with a single tap

Hold down the '.' button at the bottom of the keyboard while typing a web address to get a commonly used list of web suffixes (.com, .org, .edu, etc)

In iOS6, this option appears for me in Safari while long pressing the .com button.

Quickly access email drafts

In the mail app, long press the compose button at the bottom right of the screen to quickly jump to your drafts.

Get Siri to read your emails aloud to you

All you have to do is say "Read my email" and Siri will read all your messages aloud to you. If you like, you can tell her to read only your most recent email (“Read my latest email”) or just those from a specific contact (“Do I have email from Mark?”).

Automatically turn off music with timer

If you need to synchronise your activities with music, either you could build a playlist of desired duration or simply play all your favourite tracks and use the timer feature of iOS to stop it. Just go to the timer app, select “When Timer Ends,” then scroll down and select “Stop Playing.” The Timer will automatically turn off your tunes after whatever length of time you set.
