ZTE introduced the simple looking VR headset
ZTE introduced the simple looking VR headset during the launch event of Axon 7 but it is aiming high, unlike other manufacturers that just provided you a gadget to experience things virtually. ZTE VR is Google’s Daydream platform compatible device. Google during its I/O conference event held on 18th May announced a number of OEMs which are ready to release the smartphones compatible with Android Daydream VR. Since Google didn’t launch its own VR yet so we think the VR of the partnered OEMs has been selected to be compatible with Google’s daydream platform.
The Daydream platform brings high-quality VR content hence, it translates the virtual environment as real as possible. Google stated that the devices to run the Daydream platform don’t need to feature high-quality displays rather a high-end SoCs are required as mandatory assets. And, the high-end SoCs only adorn the high-end devices with HD display. So, Google is actually using the potential which is already present in the smartphones. Hence, there is no need of any extra setups or software to bring the daydream support.
Google already mentioned that we should expect the daydream compatible hardware devices to come this fall and it seems like ZTE is the first manufacturer to get the support. There are also other leading manufacturers in the list including Samsung, Xiaomi, LG, ASUS, and two or three more.
ZTE’s VR which is compatible with Google Daydream platform has a few buttons for control. There is also a control pad that can be swiped like the one found on the Gear VR. There’s a 9-axis gyroscope built in to enhance motion tracking.
ZTE is yet to announce release date and pricing details of their VR. Stay tuned.
