Portal by Arubixs – Flexible Wearable Smartphone

Portal
Firstly is essential to say that a wearable smartphone is a whole new concept, it´s something that has never been done before, if you were going to search in Google for “wearable smartphones” you would surely find the same result over and over: Portal by Arubixs, which is an attempt to break the mold in the handset smartphone industry, where the designs are mostly similar, following the same standards for years and years, which isn´t bad at all, but this is not what we are here to talk about.
The brand new ARUBIXS Portal is the result of what the genius behind this brand define as the frustration of a stagnant mobile industry with repetitive design; a little rough from their part, but this shows their determination and comprise for delivering the first wearable smartphone ever. When you laid your eyes upon it, you can see clearly what they mean, it looks like it came out from a sci-fi movie, because in the first place, this device goes attached to the forearm through an armband of cool design. The screen and the device itself are quite unique, it´s designed to be flexible, waterproof, shatterproof and anti-scratch, also is made out of polycarbonate a highly resilient, and eco-efficient material.

And if it wasn´t enough the Arubixs Portal has PC-like specifications, running an octa-core Snapdragon processor on the inside, with 3gb of Ram and a generous internal storage of 128Gb. All this is power by a 7000 mhA flexible battery that is supposed to last two days and be wirelessly charge.

The people from Arubixs aims for an ergonomic and highly durable smartphone with a futuristic look to it that manages to change the market´s perception about smartphones in order to start a revolution within the mobile industry. For such reason, they have built a groundbreaking design from scratch using other cell phones concepts and features and mixing all together to get the first wearable smartphone ever.
When it comes to hardware is vital to remark that all components for this device are flexible, the display, battery and motherboard share this feature, and they are also cleverly isolated from water and strange bodies. The screen as it was stated before is a flexible/shatterproof and anti-scratch polycarbonate OLED display with a 6” inches size with internal resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels (~245 PPI pixel density) that offers multitouch support. Ten years ago this would have sounded just crazy, but now is closer than ever to become a reality.
The body of the Arubixs Portal has a dimension of 137.26 x 73 x 8.79mm and will be built with flexible polyurethane and Kevlar protection polycarbonate, yes the same material used for bulletproof vest, this might give you an idea of how resistant it is, perhaps not to stop bullets but enough to resist activities such as sports and swimming. Portal features two microphones, one of them is noise canceling, and has two stereo sound speakers alongside three cameras, but we`ll get into the details later. All needless to say that these components are also cleverly isolated from water, which is a huge step from standards smartphones.
As for the arm bands, there are two models so far: executive, featuring stainless steel straps, and sports with a more casual look, both models have black and white version but they have plans of adding a gold executive model.

CPU and GPU
Portal
The Arubixs Portal has a lot to be proud about, the CPU chose for the built is an octa-core Snapdragon MSM8976 at 1.8 GHz of clock frequency, this CPU is comparable to a desktop CPU of mid to low end, which shows how powerful the processor is.
When it comes to GPU the built doesn`t stay behind by any means, the CPU is followed by the high-end Adreno 430 GPU, that has no match in the mobile terrain, delivering high-quality and fidelity in images and video, providing as well a smooth performance for gaming. Other devices that incorporate this GPU serve as precedent for the upcoming expectation of the Portal wearable device.
