Starting with the design, it features a 5.5-inch display with Gorilla Glass 4 and one-touchfingerprint sensor. It comes with a complete aluminum body that surrounds the entire exterior. The smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor and sports 6GB of RAMand 64GB of storage.
One of the signature new features that deserve a mention is Dash Charge. Dash Charge sets a new benchmark for quick charging solutions. A quick 30-minute charge will replenish over60% of your OnePlus 3’s battery, allowing for 7+ hours of HD video playback. But how does Dash Charge work? The feature creates a "larger electric current" without increasing the pressure, which leads to stable charging speeds. Needless to say, that's beneficial to the charging process.
Also Dash Charge does not slow down its charging pace when the phone's being actively used while tethered to the charger, which often happens during gaming, 4K video recording, or merely keeping the screen on. Additionally, OnePlus boasts that Dash Charge has yet another strength that it doesn't generate a lot of heat during the charging process, keeping the phone relatively cool.
What's more, most of the components that generate heat are seemingly fitted inside the Dash Charger Adapter itself, rather than inside the phone's port, as is the case with other devices keeping all undesired heat right next to the wall socket. The upshot is the phone won’t throttle down performance when you’re using it while charging. To learn more, head on over to the OnePlus 3’s video posted above.
The only bummer is that this is proprietary technology that only works with OnePlus’s devices, so you will have to purchase DASH compatible car chargers and battery packs.
Apart from this, It also comes with the new 16MP rear camera which features an f/2.0 aperture along with both optical image stabilization (OIS) and electronic image stabilization. The combination of hardware and software stabilization doesn’t just help keep 4K videos stable, it also helps reduce motion blur in still photos. There is a large-pixel 8MP camera on the front which lets you click your selfies. In terms of software it will run OxygenOS which is simple, comfortable, and easy to use right out of the box.
Best of all, OnePlus has ditched the invite system. Now you can head straight to its website and buy the OnePlus 3. It is priced at $399 in the U.S., $519 in Canada, £309 in the UK, €399 in Europe and ₹27,999 in India. OnePlus is launching the phone in graphite silver at first, with a soft gold model coming later in the year.
