Samsung Galaxy S7 – Specs
As you can see from the video above, the hardware design is not much different than last year, but that is rather good, since the design looks good. But the specs have changed as it is expected. This year Samsung went with Qualcomm for some of its models, without ditching the Exynos line completely. Is some markets the Samsung Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge will come with the Snapdragon 820 and in others with the Exynos 8890, with Samsung claiming that there is no difference in performance between the two models. We were informed that the UK market will most likely get the Snapdragon variant.
Both models will come with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage, and we’re happy to see that the microSD card slot is back in the Galaxy S line. The difference this year, in terms of storage options is that Samsung will only offer the 32GB variant and nothing else. The main camera now produces 12MP resolution shots. That is less than last year’s 16MP photos, but the newer camera comes with a f/1.7 sensor so I’m confident that the photos from the 12MP camera will be equally good or better.
Differences between the S7 & S7 Edge
The two models are not completely the same though, there are some difference as you will see. First of all there is a different screen, and I’m not only referring to the curvature at the sides. The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has a bigger 5.5″ panel, which is bigger to the S7’s 5.1″ screen. Both panels offer a QuadHD resolution though. Secondly, the Edge model has a much bigger battery. While the normal S7 has a battery rated at 3000mAh, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has a 3600mAh one!
Samsung Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge new features
This year it’s mot only microSD that made a come back in Samsung’s flagships. The brand new Samsung Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge offer water resistance and are with IP68 certification. One new feature that is missing though, and we’d really like Samsung to adopt is the USB Type-C port for charging. unfortunately, the Samsung Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge utilize the standard microUSB port.
