Xiaomi is known for releasing low priced phones that do not compromise on quality. The company has been doing exceedingly well with this strategy. But it seems that the company is going to make some change though. Xiaomi’s co-founder Li Wanqiang has reported that the company will be releasing a high end smartphone this year. The smartphone will be priced at CNY 4,000 (roughly $600 or Rs. 40,400), which is a completely new price bracket for Xiaomi.
Though the device in question is really expensive but it will offer more value than its price if we go by the company’s core strategy. No further details on the device or its release timeline were given.
While the phone in question is not yet known, rumors going round say it might be a dual curved screen version of the Mi Note 2.
The Mi Note 2 will more than likely be released at IFA 2016 in September. The rumor mill claims there are three models incoming. Some of the rumoured specifications include 12-megapixel dual rear cameras, 4000mAh battery, fast charging support, fingerprint scanner, and '3D Touch' display. The most premium of these reportedly features a dual curved screen combined with high-end specs. It stands to reason that this will be the $600 device mentioned by the company’s co-founder.
