We have spoken many times about the Elephone P9000 and its features; we were one of the first to talk about its rumored Helio X20 SoC. Then we have talked about the 3 different variants of this smartphone that will come out. But we have never spoken of the final difference between those 3 models since they were launched in the market.
So, we have decided to make this detailed article about the Elephone P9000 Edge, the Elephone P9000 Lite and their differences between the standard model, the Elephone P9000, so let’s dive in.
Elephone P9000 Edge: 2.5D, more storage and better camera
The Elephone Edge P9000 comes with a 2.5D display and premium design with no side frames.
We have already shared quite a few news when it comes to the Elephone P9000 Edge, and it looks like the info was spot on. This smartphone sports a very smooth design all around, thanks to the metallic frame and no bezels on the sides.
The Elephone P9000 Edge comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display together with the 64GB of internal storage capacity and 4GB of RAM. The P9000 Edge is powered by the all new Helio P10, 64-bit Octa-core CPU, which is MediaTek’s newest mid-range SoC.
Since we are focusing on the differences between the Elephone P9000 Edge and its sibling, here are some of the features where the P9000 Edge prevailed the Elephone P9000:
- 5D “borderless” glass screen effect, with the full HD resolution and 5.5-inch display.
- Fingerprint scanner, instead of being placed on the back of the device, now it is located on the right side on the P9000 Edge (it is using the same sensor that is being used by the Sony Xperia Z5).
- Internal storage, which can be extended from the 32GB up to 64GB
- Better rear camera, we can choose between 13 to 21 MP cameras provided by a Sony IMX230 sensor. The front camera possesses 8MP.
Besides these features, the other P9000 Edge specifications are identical to those of Elephone P9000, and here is the specs table:

Elephone P9000 Lite: Same potential, fewer features
The P9000 Lite smartphone is actually quite similar to the P9000 in terms of the specifications and even design. Like both other P9000 smartphones, this handset comes with the 4GB of RAM and Helio P10 SoC, while it also sports 32GB of internal storage capacity, just like the P9000.
The 13-MP camera is placed on the back of this device, but it seems to sport a different sensor when we compare it to the Elephone P9000, you will be able to find OmniVision’s OV3850 sensor here.
The front-facing camera has 5-MP which is pretty decent for taking the self-portraits. But unlike the other models, you don’t get wireless charging, NFC or Fingerprint Scanner here. The Type-C USB port and Android 6.0 Marshmallow are also here.
We leave you with the list of differences where the Elephone P9000 Lite differs from the Elephone P9000:
- 13-Megapixels rear camera created by Omnivision (OV13850) rather than Sony.
- The front-facing camera is lowered down to the 5-megapixels, and it is also created by the Omnivision (OV13850).
- No fingerprint scanner
- SDcard storage up to 128 GB , not 256 GB.
- Lack of NFC
- Lack of wireless charging
As you can see, these are not some significant features, but this cut justifies a more affordable price. We leave you with the detailed specifications table below:
