How do websites and blogs exactly make money?

The era of ads is in the past.

Forget adsense, google, ad networks, and the like.

Ramit Sethi makes multi-million revenue every year. Ads on his website: zero.

Melyssa Griffin makes about $100,000 every MONTH. Not a single ad on her website.

Bryan Harris, Neil Patel, Mariah Coz, Derek Halpern… Same thing.

I can go on forever.

It’s 2017. If you’re a blogger and trying to make profit from ads on your blog, you are losing.

The most effective way to make money through your blog is by building a tribe of “1,000 true fans” and creating a paid product that solves their problems and needs.

What this means:

1. Choose a topic you’re either a (relative) expert in, or enjoy learning about.
2. Make sure other people are also intersted in this topic.
3. Produce excellent content on the topic, and start building your email list from Day 1.
4. Communicate with your email list, provide value, build trust. Get to know your subscribers.
5. Find out what’s your audience’s most pressing problem (on your topic) is right now, and create a solution for it (can be a physical product, a digital product, an info product (course), or a service).
6. Pre-sell your offer to a small subset of your list to validate interest.
7. Once the idea is validated, build the product, and launch it to your list (not just send one email — prepare a 10-day long launch campaign with bonuses, urgency, etc.)

There is literally a course on each of the bullet points above. You can also find a TON of free resources online that can help (but of course this route will take you longer).

I recently wrote a case study on a guy who followed this exact process and is now making a full-time income from his blog, traveling the world with his wife and living a digital nomad life.

He started a blog in a competitive niche (nutrition), and in a year, he had 10,000 email subscribers, which allowed him to launch his first product (a simple e-book), and make about $10,000 in his first launch.
