Well, this is what actually happened. Xiaomi always invites its potential customers whenever there are new launches. And this is what the company has followed during its release be it Taiwan or China. However, at the India launch, things couldn’t go well. About one hour after the event started, a few people started to shout offensive remarks about the company. Manu Jain, who is the company’s head in India, took over and tried to know the reason of the fans’ displeasure. It was then understood that some people inside the stadium were a bit unhappy as their friends were not allowed inside. In fact, they had to be kept waiting outside.
Another reason for things to turn wrong was that all the fans should have received free Xiaomi t-shit, but hadn’t. As a matter of fact, Xiaomi might have miscalculated the possible number of fans and the t-shirts they were giving out. No wonder, Xiaomi is popular in India. Manu Jain came forward to apologize publicly and added that all who were present during the event would certainly receive goodies and a free t-shirt. However, when would they get it wasn’t specifically mentioned. “If not today, then at a later stage” was the response.
Though this response was enough to satisfy some consumers, there were still some more that weren’t. The delay wasn’t something the fans were expecting or ready to compromise on. Finally, the police had to be called for to control the situation.
