Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 specs leaked
According to new information, the Galaxy Tab S2 could quite literally be a mash-up of these two products.
As 2015 prepares to move into its third month, the tech world is gearing up for the official unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S6/Galaxy S Edge and the HTC One M9. For tablet aficionados however, it often seems more of a challenge to find major news. Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S line is quickly reaching its one-year anniversary, and with that, it’s seemingly time to release a brand new pair of products.
Please note that, as with any leak, these details should be taken with a grain of salt as until Samsung itself announces these products, even their existence is arguably up for debate. With that out of the way, the latest leaks indicate the Galaxy Tab S2 line will once again come in a pair of products, however the sizes are a bit different. Reiteratingearlier reports that Samsung would be testing its hand at 4:3 aspect ratio devices this year, we have the Tab S 2 8-inch (SM-T710), at a svelte 260g and sized at 198.2×134.5×5.4, and the Galaxy Tab S 2 9.7-inch (SM-T810) at 407g and dimensions of 237.1×168.8×5.4. Both devices are said to sport a screen resolution of 2048X1536 due to their lack of widescreen.
The Galaxy Tab S2 series may end up using a full metal casing, similar to the recently released Galaxy A3 and A5.
The CPU apparently isn’t set in stone yet, with the current idea being that of the Exynos 5433 32-Bit, but it may be replaced with the 7420 given the latter’s 64-bit processing — something that will come in handy with the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop build that they will be running on. Category 6 LTE will be supported on cellular models. This processing power is to be coupled with 3GB of RAM along side 32GB of on-board storage and Micro SD support up to 128GB.
In terms of batteries, the 8-inch model will have a 3,580 mAh cell and the 9.7 inch, a 5,870 mAh unit. The leak source indicates neither capacity size is confirmed however. Both models will have an 8 megapixel rear camera and 2.1 front camera.
Perhaps the most interesting tidbit is the idea that these devices will use metal, although it is still unclear as to if the frame will be metal or the entire casing. When coupling the SAMOLED screen with iPad-esque dimensions and a premium build, this could be the year that Samsung finally has a major competitive advantage against Apple. What do you think, excited to see what Samsung brings to the table?
