I spent the weekend trying to get Debian on the Mele PCG03, after several failed attempts and different memory cards i successfully finished the installation and booted into desktop. Asking over a Debian IRC channel i was advised to use the latest Debian netinst version in order to have the latest drivers, kernel and UEFI support.
I didnt want to replace the Windows installation as i would not be able to roll back so i decided to install Debian on a external 8GB microSD card connected to one of the USB ports.
My setup:
- Mele PCG03 with Windows 8.1 preinstalled
- 4GB microSD card and USB card reader for Debian netinst image to boot from
- 8GB microSD card and USB card reader for the Debian installation
- Wired connection to internet (WiFI did not work during installation)
- Wired keybord and mouse connected to PCG03
- Universal USB Installer software to create the USB boot image
