Debian 8.0 Jessie on Mele PCG03 miniPC review

I spent the weekend trying to get Debian on the Mele PCG03, after several failed attempts and different memory cards i successfully finished the installation and booted into desktop. Asking over a Debian IRC channel i was advised to use the latest Debian netinst version in order to have the latest drivers, kernel and UEFI support.
I didnt want to replace the Windows installation as i would not be able to roll back so i decided to install Debian on a external 8GB microSD card connected to one of the USB ports.
My setup:
  • Mele PCG03 with Windows 8.1 preinstalled
  • 4GB microSD card and USB card reader for Debian netinst image to boot from
  • 8GB microSD card and USB card reader for the Debian installation
  • Wired connection to internet (WiFI did not work during installation)
  • Wired keybord and mouse connected to PCG03
  • Universal USB Installer software to create the USB boot image
Mele PCG03 Specifications
  • Processor: Intel Atom Z3735F (quad-core, 1.33 GHz), Burst freq up to 1.83 GHz
