This is one of these things where you ask...why would someone build sonething that is meant to be used as a solution for filling life's gaps, and then allow a 3rd party to build a protocol into it that renders it useless to the customer.
I can understand restricting children. Bu why would you need software to do that? just hide the power cable on the Mac and hide the devices.
