The lens is compatible with Sony α mount system – used among others in cameras with interchangeable lenses in a series of α7 – as well as cameras with interchangeable lenses and camcorders professional 4K Super 35mm, as FS7 and FS5. The lens is based on the construction of Sony SMO (Smooth Motion Optics) to optimize operation while recording footage. It eliminates the various properties, which are not relevant when shooting, but they can essentially reduce the usefulness of the lens film productions. Belong to them:
- The gradual decline in the aperture with increasing focal length (ramping)
- Instability focus during the zoom.
- Instability angle during focusing (breathing)
- Instability of the optical axis (movement of the image in the frame during the zoom).
