Sprint demos 5G in Santa Clara

The companies which have partnered together to develop high speed 5G internet technologies, gave a live demonstration to thousands of people gathered at the event. Soccer fans experienced a live streaming virtual reality system from VideoStitch that very extremely responsive due to the high speed 5G system. Viewers at the games, were also able to view 4K videos in ultra high-definition on 5G technology.
Sprints 5G demonstration used 73 GHz millimeter wavelength spectrum to deliver high download speeds of more than 2 Gbps. For the demo, Sprint used beam switching to select the best antennas and send targeted signals to devices. The company is working ondeveloping its network with the addition of various cell site solutions and smart antennas that will help in meeting the future demand for high speed 5G data across a bigger geographic location.
“We’re proud to take a leadership role as the first U.S. carrier to demonstrate 5G at a large scale public event such as Copa América Centenario,” said Günther Ottendorfer, Sprint COO, Technology.
Ricky Corker, executive vice president and head of North America for Nokia, said: "We are excited that Sprint is showcasing 5G, further underscoring the U.S.'s commitment to and leadership of this important communications revolution. As a front-runner in the 5G race, Nokia is working to advance 5G end-to-end solutions globally. We've been a long standing partner of Sprint, and now we will work closely with them to deliver commercial ready solutions in line with their plans."
