Bluetooth headsets are useful for gaming or calls but they’re nearly always made of flimsy, brittle plastic that feels eminently snappable.
If you work on a construction site or are prone to treading on accessories when you get up from the couch to make a cup of tea, the Jabra STEEL Bluetooth earpiece might be of interest.
As well as the usual Bluetooth call facilities, it also has integrated Google Now functionality, text message reading and voice controls for calls.
It’s also more water, dust and wind-proof than a regular earpiece and is built to withstand force, be it from dropping or compressing.
It offers six hours’ talk time, a 30-metre range and is IP54 rated.
The STEEL (so strong its name literally can’t go in lower-case – we’ve tried) will be out in November and will cost $123.
