HTC and Google sign 3-year deal for Nexus devices?

HTC and Google sign 3-year deal for Nexus devices?

It’s almost been two years since there were a lot of rumors that Google would cancel the Nexus program of devices, replacing it with Android Silver. Those rumors did not become a reality eventually and Google continued on to make Nexus devices in partnership with hardware manufacturers. This year rumor has it that HTC will be the maker of the next Nexus smartphone. HTC is no stranger to Nexus devices since they were the manufacturers of the original Nexus, the Nexus One, and also the Nexus 9 tablet. But there is a new story that suggests an even closer partnership between the two companies in the coming years.

HTC & Google sign partnership agreement for 3 years?

The latest rumors suggest that the two companies, signed a partnership agreement for 3 years and HTC will be the exclusive Google partner for the upcoming Nexus devices. The Taiwanese company is not in the best of situations right now. A deal like this could guarantee HTC a lot of business for some time and that is not something they could pass right now.
Something we don’t know anything about though, is what percentage of control will the Taiwanese OEM have in the manufacturing process, if any. But being only a manufacturing partner is not something new for them anyway, they have been that in the past for Windows Mobile devices and other devices.
Of course nothing is sure at this point but this is an incredibly interesting story that could shake things up in the Android world. We’re are not sure if HTC will take up all hardware manufacturing at this point, producing both smartphones and tablets and we’ll have to wait if there is truth to this rumor.

This story first appeared on Chinese social networking site Weibo, where famous leaker “upleaks” had this to comment about the story: “You know too much”. So based on the fact that most leaks turn out to be true nowadays in the tech world, I’d say that there is definitely truth to the story.
What is your opinion do you think a deal between the two companies. Could this change HTC’s future?
