Flymemo BH03 Hammer Athlete Bluetooth Headset Review

RW01 BH03 Hammer Athlete Bluetooth Headset Review

I have received an RW01/BH03 Hammer Athlete Bluetooth Headset to review, the first thing that you will notice upon opening up the packaging is how brightly coloured they are.
The RW01 and BH03 are both the same bluetooth 4 headsets, with built in mic for calling, but are branded differently depending on where they are ordered form.

The packaging is fairly basic and is made of clear folded plastic and the headphones come in a moulded slide out section, once removed you have access to the headphones, a set of instructions, micro USB charging lead and a selection of additional silicon ear pieces.

As with all new battery operated gadgets my first port of call was to charge the battery up fully, on the right earpiece you will find a silicon cover with a USB marking, lift this up and insert the cable and connect the other end to a USB charger or USB port on a computer etc.

A red LED indicates that the RW01 Hammer Athlete Bluetooth Headset is charging, this goes out once the headset is fully charged.

Pairing the RW01 Hammer Athlete Bluetooth Headset

Pairing is simply a case of holding the power button in for about 3 seconds, an LED will flash between Blue/Red to show that the headset is in pairing mode.
Once in pairing mode search for the device on your phone and choose RW01 or BH03 depending on which version you received, if you require it the pairing code for the headset is 0000 once paired the indicator LED turns blue.
The RW01 Hammer Athlete Bluetooth Headset has built in voice prompts, when you turn on the headset a female voice advises you ‘Power On’, when you switch off she advises ‘Power Off’, there are also voice prompts to advise that the headset has connected and battery low.
Having paired the RW01 Hammer Athlete Bluetooth Headset to my Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 it was time to give them a test, the sound straight out of the phone without any tweaking is very bass heavy, this is great if your a fan of dance music and want something that will give you a good impression of true bass.
However if you prefer a cleaner more balanced sound from your headphones, I would advise using a music playing software that allows you to tweak the sound via some form of EQ – a little playing resulted in a decent sound from theRW01 Hammer Athlete Bluetooth Headset.
Build Quality of the RW01 Hammer Athlete Bluetooth Headset
The RW01/BH03 Hammer Athlete Bluetooth Headset is aimed at sports users and gym bunnies, the volume and quality (once tweaked) that the headset puts out, will allow you to play your music loud enough to really enhance your workout, (although I must say that you should always be careful not to play music too loudly so as not to risk damaging your ears).
The headset construction feels really nice and is pretty much all finished in a tactile silicone rubber, the cable between the ear pieces is of a flat cable style, I gave it a few good tugs to simulate getting the wire caught and the wires help up well.
My only slight grumble would be with the switches that are used for operation, whilst they have a nice click to them it appeared to take a while to make your choices.
My normal wired headphones work well, but when working out on machines in the gym I often find that the cords get tangled, or cause problems when adjusting seating positions etc.
Call quality when used with a phone is a little boomy and I found myself having too turn the headset down whilst taking calls if they came through whilst listening to music.
I made several phone calls with and without the headset to see if friends could tell the difference, I was surprised to hear that calls on the headset were clearer at the other end.
I have been using wired headphones in the gym for as long as I can remember, but having experienced the freedom of wireless headphones I am considering making the switch permanent.
