OpenAI releases its chatbot as an app for iOS, Android version coming soon

OpenAI sent seismic shockwaves around the globe when it launched its ChatGPT AI-powered chatbot in November. It has wowed audiences with its incredible capabilities ranging from being able to check and write code, but also create poems, stories and edit written work and much more. While there have been (dubious) third-party solutions and workarounds to getting the AI chatbot on to mobile devices, the official way to use ChatGPT has been through a browser, which has been a somewhat clunky way of interacting with it when on the go, in particular.Chuwi hipad plus

OpenAI has now announced that it launched the official ChatGPT app for iOS, with users in the US first to get access to it. The official ChatGPT will then begin a global rollout in the “coming weeks”, and while it is free to use, ChatGPT 4 subscribers will also get access to special features including faster response times. Android users will not be left out, with OpenAI saying that it working on an Android version of the app, that is “coming soon”, however, the company hasn’t stated exactly when it will launch.

The ChatGPT app also integrates OpenAI’s Whisper automatic speech recognition (ASR) engine, which the company says has been trained on over 680,000 hours of multilingual data pulled from the web. The Whisper open source engine is said to be able to accommodate for accents, background noise and technical language, which should make using the ChatGPT app easier. ChatGPT 5, the next iteration of ChatGPT, is expected to complete its training late this year with an early rollout in 2024. Expect rumored capabilities approaching AGI, which is short for artificial general intelligence.
