Lollipop is making its way to the Sony Xperia Z3 Dual, Z1, Z1 Compact and Z Ultra next week

In what seems like a continuous rollout as of late, Sony just announced earlier today that a number of devices should be getting the update to Android 5.0 Lollipop in the near future. Alongside the Lollipop update for the Xperia Z2 and Z2 Tablet, Sony has also announced that the Xperia Z3 Dual, Z1, Z1 Compact and Z Ultra will all be updated sometime next week. Although this timeframe may seem a bit vague, we do know that the T2 Ultra and C3 will both receive their updates shortly thereafter.

In addition to all of the devices listed above, Sony says that the Z series will also receive the update sometime soon, though the company didn’t announce a timeframe. As a refresher the Z series includes the Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z.

Wondering what exactly the Lollipop update will bring to your compatible Sony device? The company has put together a nice video showing off some of the main improvements. Major features include the addition of Priority Mode notifications, actionable lock screen notifications, Smart Lock, and a great implementation of Google’s Material Design.

It’s nice to see Sony taking initiative and updating as many of its devices as it can. Although many Sony devices still have yet to receive the update, it’s great to know that older devices are still getting attention.
